The new Regulations adopt the new Standard AS 3959 - 2009 Construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas. The Standard is available for purchase from SAI Global, Standards Australia publication arm or can be downloaded from BCA on-line if you have a current subscription.

Proposed Amendments to the Building Act

On 26 June, the second reading of proposed amendments to the Building Act 1993 took place. The proposed amendments are expected to be finalised in the spring 2008 legislative program. Read the fact sheet or visit visit www.legislation.vic.gov.au for a full copy of the proposed amendments.
