Sustainability policy
The Building Commission's sustainability policy forms a core part of our Corporate Plan.
Our behaviour will be guided by a commitment to building sustainability into each aspect of the way we work:
- Promoting building designs that address energy efficiency, prudent resource use and environmental impact mitigation, right from the planning and conceptual design stages to end-of-life demolition.
- Partnering other industry stakeholders in programs designed to improve the Triple Bottom Line Performance of the building industry.
- Providing building consumers with factual and current information on the implications of environmental sustainability for their own decisions.
- Working with building practitioners to increase their awareness of sustainability issues and their capacity to respond effectively.
- Integrating sustainability principles into the internal activities and operations of the Building Commission itself.
